Haven't taken a deer yet this season. Will update once i put it to useUpdate 12/11/16: Do not bother with this knife. The gut hook was terrible. It could not cut through a whitetail hide. Stick to a better brand and forget the gut hook as it is just a gimmick. I sharpened the knife prior to going on a hunt and it still wasn't able to get very sharp like the name brands.
