This is an Oak colored wooden holder . Anyone who got a metal one ordered or was shipped the wrong one . Two magnetic strips are very strong . It is slightly heavy but nice . I have a 14 inch magnetic holder which is metal with a plastic mounting bar and think the magnets on this one are stronger . Read some might worry about nicking the knife blade . I have never had that happen and believe anyone who did would have to try and stick a knife on cutting edge first or had a very poor quality knife . I wouldn't let small children climb on the counters where it's wall mounted since they could cut themselves . But I wouldn't do that anyway since they might fall off the counter and break an arm, leg, back, or neck . I would recommend this to any self responsible, observant person .
