Description

Lansky Standard 3-Stone Controlled-Angle Sharpening System The Lansky system is ideal for outdoor, kitchen, and workshop knives. With over 40 years in production, it’s a favorite among DIY and cutlery enthusiasts worldwide, offering the widest range of accessories. Maintaining a consistent angle is crucial for sharpening, and the Lansky Controlled-Angle System ensures precise bevel sharpening every time. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, this system delivers a professional razor-sharp edge, making it the ultimate knife-sharpening tool. The Hones Coarse Red Hone: (120 grit) for edge reconditioningMedium Green Hone: (280 grit) for sharpening and less frequent touch-upsFine Blue Hone: (600 grit) for most frequent touch-ups to keep your blade paper-slicing sharp The Clamp The knife clamp included in the system holds the knife steady, and the angle guide is static and firm so that the user can achieve the desired angle with every stroke of the sharpener. The sharpener is designed to be held in the hand or used with one of our universal stands, like the Pedestal Mount, Universal Mount, or Super "C" Clamp mount, which ensures it will fit into everyone's workshop. Getting Started For blades under 7": Position the clamp in the middle of the blade. After sharpening, flip the clamp (and blade) over and repeat the sharpening process on the unsharpened side. For blades over 7": Choose where to start sharpening and place the clamp two finger widths away from that spot. For example, if you start at the tip, place the clamp two finger widths from the tip. Secure the blade in the clamp. Place your fingers along both sides of the clamp to define your target sharpening zone. Avoid sharpening outside this zone to maintain the correct angle. Sharpen within the target zone. Then, flip the clamp (and knife) over and sharpen the other side. After sharpening the first zone on both sides, place the clamp two finger widths from the edge of the sharpened area. Sharpen the new zone using the same method and number of strokes. This ensures a continuous sharp edge with minimal gaps or overlaps. Remember! For the best results, move the hone diagonally forward toward the guide hole in the clamp, covering a small section of the blade with each stroke. Use the full length of the hone on every pass. Always sharpen into the blade. Sharpening along the length or away from the blade can damage both the blade and the hone. Keep your strokes consistent across each target zone to ensure a uniformly sharpened blade. Pro-tip! With extended use, metal shavings will accumulate, making the surface feel smoother. To clean this, apply a few drops of Nathan's Natural Honing Oil to the area and spread it with your finger. After a minute, wipe off the lifted shavings with a lint-free cloth. Repeat as needed for heavy build-up. What's the best angle? 30° Angle: The 30° Angle is an excellent angle for knives that see a lot of heavy use. This could include cutting cardboard, wire, or carpets. 25° Angle: The 25° angle is the recommended angle for most knives that need a durable, sharp edge. This angle is ideal for hunting and outdoor knives. 20° Angle: The 20° angle provides an excellent edge for kitchen cutlery and slicing knives. It is a commonly used angle for higher quality blades, and possibly the most often used. 17° Angle: The 17° angle should be used when an extremely sharp but delicate edge is needed. This angle is perfect for razor blades, scalpels, filets and similar tools. Secure Knife Clamp A multi-angle clamp is included to hold the blade securely, making this Lansky knife sharpener kit simple to use. Keeping a consistent angle with this knife sharpener tool is much easier than with a knife sharpening stone.

Complete Pocket Knife Sharpening Kit The Standard Lansky Sharpening System features three knife sharpeners, each for a unique purpose a red coarse ceramic hone (120 grit) for edge reconditioning, a green medium ceramic hone (280 grit) for sharpening and less frequent touch-ups, and a blue fine (600 grit) ceramic knife sharpener stone for frequent touch-ups to keep your blade paper-slicing sharp.

Precision Knife Sharpener The components in this Lansky knife sharpening system allow you to fix an angle of your choice for your edge, ensuring a consistent, clean bevel. For best results, attach the clamp to one of Lansky's table mounts like the Super C Clamp or the Universal Mount.

Straightforward Operation Using this knife sharpener tool is simple First, attach the brackets to a sturdy surface and tighten the clamp on your knife's blade. Select the sharpening stone you'd like to use and attach it to a rod. Insert the rod into one of the angle slots in the bracket and begin working the stone along your knife's bevel. Repeat on the other side, going back and forth between the sides as you work through progressively finer grits. Before you know it, you'll have a razor-sharp edge!

Versatile Application This system is compatible with most knives, both fixed and folding. It's both a pocket knife and a chef knife sharpener in one.

This is by far the best sharpening tool I have ever used. I picked this set up to replace my med stone. I have the 5 stone set and have it for close to 30 years, 27 or so. My med stone is pretty slim now. I feel like I have retired an old friend after all these years. OK now for the set. This 3 stone set is a great set to start with. The 5 stone set has the ceramic extra fine and the extra coarse stone. I hardly ever use the extra coarse and really don't see a need for it. The extra fine, that I use. It will give you a very nice polish to the edge. I like it but the fine stone that comes in this set will leave your edge hair shaving sharp. You will be happy there. That being said, I have the diamond extra coarse stone that I bought for a blade I had trouble with. I ended up taking that blade to a slack belt. Again disappointed in the extra coarse diamond stone. I also bought the blue sapphire stone. It was supposed to be a step above the Yellow ceramic. I don't see that. It's more of a fine stone that I do use sometimes before I end up with the ceramic for the polish. The price is great for this set. Would be a great tool for anyone that has knives. Will last a long, long time. The only problem I have had is now and again they slip from my finger tips and I drop them. This has caused the stone to break free from the holder. Nothing a little glue didn't fix. Have not had a stone break yet due to dropping them. Again that has been close to 30 years. The average person will be more than happy with this set. I do with Lansky would put a little more effort into the guide rods. This is the key to getting a edge that will make most scare and you proud of what you have done. Match your rods to each stone. Set the stone face down on a flat surface making sure the rod runs parallel to the face of the stone before you tighten. You might need to bend the rod a bit to make sure the rod is inline with the face of the stone. Doing this will make sure that all your stones follow the same line as you start with. The clamp/jig has for angle settings 30, 25, 20, 17. You might think getting shallow will give you a better edge. Well first of all the angle will change with placement of the jig so these setting are not true. I through trial and error, mostly error have found that the 30 works best for all edges that I work on. It will leave the most durable edge. The shallower the angle the more metal you take off the edge and the weaker the edge will be. Don't get me wrong, there are some edges that will need the shallow angle, but if you are new to this, stick with the 30. You will be happy there. Read the instructions. They are very good at telling how the edge will feel when you are ready to move to the finer stone. This is important since when you go to sharpen you blade for the first time, you are going to need to cut the angle. Don't try to match up the factory angle. That's time you don't need to spend. Cut your angle and move on. After a few edges you will get the hang of it. Sharpening an edge is something that takes time to get a feel as to what you are doing. Also take your time. There isn't a lot of plastic material to hold onto. It will, and I repeat, IT WILL SLIP FROM YOUR FINGERS at time. I can't say how many times I have cut myself. I get teased about it but anyone that sharpens many, many edges will tell you they do get cut. Doesn't happen much anymore but it still does. This is why you need to take your time. When you are on the fine stone or the ceramic the edge is very sharp and a slip can lead to a cut. I have starting using the cloth band aids to wrap my fingers when I'm sharpening many blades at a time. A little protection and if I do get cut. I already have a band aid on. lol Anyway, again this is a good set to start with. Great price.
