Description

Product Description knife sharpener Amazon.com The Chef's Choice Diamond Hone sharpener uses high-speed orbiting diamond-coated plates to maintain razor-sharp edges on your kitchen, pocket, and filet knives. Powerful magnets hold the blade at the proper angle while you pull the blade through the grooves. Sharpening is a quick two-step process: The first stage sharpens the blade by putting the correct angle on the edge. The second hones it smooth and even. While grinding wheels can destroy a blade's temper by generating a lot of heat, the blades stay cool with this sharpener. Do a whole drawer of knives in less time than it takes to drive to and from a professional knife sharpener's shop. This sharpener cleans up with a damp cloth and doesn't need lubrication or other maintenance. --Dale Steinke

Works as described. Description says white; received black, but actually prefer that color.I've used this product on a few knives now and I am pleased with the results. It's a slow process but the results are good.I think that after awhile with regular usage, my knives will have an easily maintainable edge. The unit is stable, thanks to the suction cup-type feet and easy to use.The instruction are clear and easily followed. They are correct in that it take MULTIPLE passes to re-set the factory edge to their(Chef's Choice) edge.I returned this product. I had it for about 2 weeks or so. I have had Chef's Choice sharpeners in the past and love themThis guy, I'm not a fan. The moving stone design causes your blade to also vibrate in a circular motion, similar to a palm sander on wood. When your blade vibrates against the magnet that is hold the angle, it MARS the blade.I give it 2 stars simply because it appears to be an old design that needs to be let go. It does get the job done and works best with a thinner kitchen/fillet style blade but the spinning disc style sharpeners that are the next levels up are WAY WAY BETTER.I bought this sharpener for my husband as a Christmas present. It is decent. Still, it falls short for getting that perfect sharpening. I realize I may have to have professionals sharpen my kitchen blades but this one will do in a rush. My husband likes it and says it sharpens his fish file' knife well.Bought as a gift. I already have one and it has proven to be a workhorse for me. Great value.I was sharping my first knife and it quit running, The next day I thought I would try another knife and it quit running as I was sharping it also. So I think it was defective and returned it. I haven't ordered a different one yet but need a knife sharpener. When I do order one it will have to have the grinding wheels. This Chef's choice model 310 was purchased last year and just tried now. Read the directions carefully several times and then followed them. Stage one left a very rough edge and certainly not sharp. Stage 2 smoothed out the roughness left by performing stage one but the knife was NOT sharp. Then took the knife to my old manual Chef's Choice sharpener model 460 and that quickly left a nice sharp edge just like it has been doing for several years. I should have stayed with the model 460.Yes it did and our last one lasted 20 over years! This was my first electric knife sharpener and to be honest, I am a little disappointed. I have followed the instructions to the letter but the sharp blade described by the manufacturer is not what you get!! I asked a chef friend of mine to help and he too was of the same opinion as me, this product is ok for the odd knife in the home kitchen but there are far better models available for the same price that really do, do the job they say they do. I was having to sharpen my knives every other day, this is not acceptable to me as the product I am now using is far more superior as I only need sharpen my blades every 10 days or so! For the average housewife and with some patience and possibly a little help, this product will suffice.£25 cheaper than elsewhere.Don't buy cheap imitations that don't work( not enough power), for a few extra pound s get the right tool for the job.Its crap if you dont know how to use it as i did in the beginning. Once you get the hang of it....razzzzzor sharp knives. You have to be careful as some of them can be tooo sharp foryour likingdon't do a very good job.Good
