Cutlery Rivets for DIY Handles & Knife Handle Repair Commonly referred to as "Cutlery Rivets", these 2-part press-rivets are excellent when used for knife handle fasteners. To use them, drill a through-hole through your handle material for the shaft to pass through, then create a larger stepped hole for the head to recess in. The head on both sides of the rivet will then be sanded along with the surface of the handle material to create a seamless surface connection. Cutlery rivets have been used for many years to fasten handles on some of the most famous knives ever made. Knife handle rivets are extremely easy to use. They are joined by using a hammer and anvil surface to press the two parts together and can be epoxied for a permanent handle treatment. Precision Step Drill Combos These Cutlery Rivet are also featured in a step drill combo kit. It features 10 Cutlery Rivet Fasteners in the material and size specified above with the corresponding precision step drill for installation. Rivet Material = (2) Brass | Head Diameter = 0.312 in. (ea.) | Head Thickness = 0.05 in. | Our U.S.A. designed cutlery rivets are offered in three standard materials. We feature Stainless Steel, Nickel Silver, and Brass 2-part cutlery rivets. These material types are the most common for knife handle construction and will match most commercial cutlery rivets when replacing or repairing.
Shaft Length = 0.50 in. | Shaft Diameter = 0.15 in. (.155 in. Joined) | Cutlery rivets are very easy to use. Simply align the tip of the shaft on shaft-A to the barrel opening of shaft-B and tap with a hammer against a hardened backstop surface. Once the two rivet parts are mated under pressure, they will form a bonded joint and will hold together indefinitely.
