On opening package noticed it had been previously opened, and was listed as "new" item. On first use, noticed some burrs that gives me concern about using it for good knives. However, at $10 I'm not going to return. Will try to smooth the burrs with old knife and steel wool.I have been a chef for the last 25 years, with that being said; this product is the worst I have ever used. When you go to sharpen your knife on the steel, the knife grabs on the metal and puts a divot in your knife and in the steel. So as you keep sharpening, you end up catching on the divots and putting deeper groves in the steel and in the knives being sharpened. If I could, I would return this steel. But apparently I missed the Return window. Buy a different brand. This metal is toSoft and will ruin your knives.This is not a good sharpener. The metal is too soft. Would not put an edge on any of the knives I tried it on. Immediately went into the donation box, although now I feel guilty about that decision as it should have gone straight to the recycling bin. This "sharpener" is a prime example of the caution that if something is priced too good to be true, look out.Arrived on time and is just what I need to keep my Knives sharp & ready for use. Definitely worth The $10 I paid for it.I have found this item to be as advertised and seems to be a well made. It trues my knife blades very nice.Tried for couple of times. It sharpens big knives well, however not so good with small paired knife.Seems to be cheaply made. Not very happy with this product. No way my knives should be cutting into the steel.This is the worst steel I have ever used the material is very soft like aluminum do not buy this you will not be happy with this product it is a waste of money
