Sometimes you need to safely cut rope. This works great. Works great for Jute. Haven’t tested it on nylon yet.This knife is a lot smaller than I imagined. If I would have done a bit of research on this knife I probably would not have bought it, simply because it is so small. By the shape of the handle I assumed it would at least fill your palm. Aside from the size, it seems to be a quality knife, very sharp and would be very hard to use as a weapon if the inmates got their hands on it. I will test it when I get to work to see if a noose fashioned from a sheet (the method of suicide used most where I work) will fit in the opening. Despite the fact that this knife is most like too small to replace our VERY DULL issued suicide knives (which have steel so cheap, if you do put a sharp edge on it, the blade folds over on itself), this knife seems like it would be a nice utility tool for odd jobs around my work such as opening cases of toilet paper, cutting zip ties, etc. I think I will keep it, add a 550 cord lanyard and carry it on the job.An interesting alternative cutting device. Not allowed to have a standard pocket knife in the workplace so I was asked to consider this knife as an alternative cutting device. I bought a couple of them and have carried one with me for a couple of months now. It is well built and appears to be of quality steel as I have used it on numerous occasions and the edges have held up well. It has been great for things like opening boxes and cutting zip ties. My favorite use for it is cutting into those confounded blister packs many items are sold in today. Also used it for stripping electrical wire and cutting nylon rope. Don't get complacent with it though because you can still find a way to cut yourself with it. Only complaint is that it is not as easy to open and close as it appears to be in the promotional youtube video. I now have 4 of them, keeping one in the tool box, one in the kitchen drawer, one in the glove compartment and one in my pocket most of the time. Will be getting several more for christmas gift stocking stuffers.Great knife for an alternative cutting device. Blade is sharp and after many uses the blade remains sharp.I'm working where I can't bring a pocket knife and bought this to have something in my pocket during the week. After carrying it for a couple of weeks, I can't be without it. This is a much better tool for opening packages than a pocket knife! Those horrible plastic bubble packs melt away with this gem. Also great for bags of garden stuff, cat litter, etc. If the sharp hook doesn't handle it, the saw-like section will.The only problem that makes me miss my pocket knife is when you need to cut tape on the surface of a box. The point of a knife is perfect for this task, but the hook is only good if you can get under it.All-in-all, a great purchase and I would buy it again. I may still buy another one just to have a spare.The package arrived in very good time. I got it to be able to cut thinner rope in emergencies, so I haven't done much to test the blade. However, I did play with it a bit and it sliced through paper and cloth very easily, like butter. After some practice, it's relatively easy and smooth to open, which is the point. Closing it is not incredibly easy. The metal latch is very stiff, and takes some pressure to close. All in all, I love the size and color and textured grooves. A good buy!Small and easy to carry on you. I tested it on a couple types of rope and it works well. My everyday carryBöker Rescom is an excellent safety knife, injury during use is almost impossible due to the hook-style blunt tip. The knife is terrifyingly sharp though! DO NOT attempt to touch the blade "to test sharpness", you WILL hurt yourself... One-handed use is very easy, closure requires some practice though. The product came in the original, still safety-sealed, packaging.
