I bought one of these for myself after refinishing one for a friend. They are charming and made with good steel. They do suffer from a few faults mainly due to the price point and demands of economic mass production. The fit and finish of the wood and the black pieces is rough. The scabbard on some of these has a less-than-perfect seam which should be invisible. My scabbard had several gouges and low spots filled with some filler which was a decent color match, but the filler is noticeable, especially after I refinished it. The wood is not very smooth and the finish (shellac?) is rough. Just know that these are NOT dishwasher safe and should not be left to soak. I just give a quick wipe with a damp cloth, then dry immediately.I took my brand new knife and sanded off all the original finish. The only difficult part was that I would have liked to unrivet the blade from the handle but I couldn't do it without gouging the wood significantly. This made it harder to sand smooth and impossible to align the black piece with the handle, which was out of alignment due to hasty assembly. The black piece came off the scabbard easy enough with a few minutes of gentle but firm coaxing. At that time I filled the seam in the scabbard with thick super-glue, then rounded the harsh edges and block-sanded both pieces using 220, then 320, then 1800 MicroMesh. I masked off the black parts and the blade and sprayed on several coats of nitrocellulose lacquer, sanding with 2400 MicroMesh between coats with a final polish of 3200 after the last coat had dried several days. This results in a very smooth and tactile feel without being too glossy -- a nice satin finish. This is how you turn a $10 knife into a $100 knife! I'll put up pictures in a few days.I have ordered about 4 of these knives over the last 10 years. I've only bought that many because I have lost a few during camping/picnics trips and like having 2 on hand. They are awesome for home and travel. Out of all of my expensive high end knife collection, this is my cheapy and fav to use. LOVE IT!Not the finest quality steel for a lasting sharp edge, but I use these as occasional steak knives, and they work greatI won't say this is the best quality knife out there, but I will say it is more than adequate. Small, very sharp, easy to handle. It is very lightweight, that can be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective. It was easy to dispatch a small watermelon, cut right thru the rind and easily sectioned and cubed the flesh quickly and accurately. This is one sharp little knife, only time will tell if it stays that way. I can see where it would be handy in a lunch box or even a backpack for the hikers out there....and certainly in the picnic essentials, this knife makes short work out of tomatoes, as well as apples and pears. I will buy at least one other, and maybe a couple of more, endless uses for a compact blade that comes with its' own sheath/scabbard. I can even see using this for a steak knife, and acquiring a set won't empty your bank account.I needed a little knife with a sheath for citrus by my bar. This fits the bill nicely. I don’t have high expectations from this knife but so far it does the job. Build quality is a little cheap but the blade is pretty sharp. Some things aren't optional in the kitchen and knives are close to the top of that list for me. I have a couple Shun products, the most used is their 10" Chef's Knife, and wanted to experiment with ultra-cheap products for a while before I could get my hands on a traditional Japanese set. This knife is truly incredible for the price.Nothing impresses me more than a quality product at some absurdly low cost and I still can't quite figure out why it's so cheap; it's made in Japan, the materials aren't bad at all, and even feels decent in the hand. It arrived impossibly sharp for a cheap blade and it's even held up well with frequent use with no signs of the handle or scabbard flexing at points where two materials are joined. I even think it's a pretty handsome little guy. While there are certainly other products that may be better in a variety of ways (better steel, better materials, etc.), I've never held a ten dollar knife and felt so confident in it.If you want a genuinely good, downright cheap knife, you couldn't do better than this. It's super sharp. It's cheap. It does the job fine - safely sheathed in my office drawer till I want to cut fruit with it. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the quality of the wood sheath and handle, which is about what you'd expect for the price. My handle has a rough patch which has just been varnished over. The tip of the wood sheath was sharp enough to poke you if you were rummaging - exactly what it is designed to protect you from. I trimmed mine down with a pair of scissors till it was blunter.Still all in all a good and useful little product at a very reasonable price. And the blade is first-rate.Low cost, functional, protective sleeve. This works well for us as a bar-knife for slicing limes and lemons, mainly. It doesn't get a lot of use as we don't drink a lot and, well, we're in shelter-in-place for SARS CoV-2 so we aren't having guests or serving drinks to friends. So far it remains sharp and I appreciate the sheath, which allows me to store it with our bar items without worrying about nicking myself or damaging the blade. It doesn't look particularly well made but it was an inexpensive purchase and I don't expect artistry for what I paid.Desde que solicite cambio de color a subido un 33% de precio.De igual manera vale la pena este cuchillo portátil, el cual no es una calidad top, pero por el precio llevas un buen producto con un buen filo y que puedes llevar contigo en la mochila bolsa.Esta vez no trae filo máximo, pero con una piedra de afilar quedará como nuevo.Altamente recomendableCuts like a knife.very sharp
