I wanted a smaller butcher block for my knives . . . . the majority of those I could find locally were large and rather cumbersome and take up a lot of counter space. I wasn't sure about the concept of this particular butcher block and the material that holds the knives in place; however, the reviews I read indicated it worked well. Sure enough, when it arrived, I immediately but my six knives in it, and they stayed in place without moving. At the same time, it is easy to pull them out and put them back in. The tilt and angle of the block allows me to place the it under my cabinets and pull out the knives without moving the entire piece to get a knife. I love the streamlined look and quality of the wood as well. I highly recommend this piece.This is an aesthetically simple and beautifully designed knife holder. It looks great on the countertop, doesn't take up much space. The smooth bamboo container is tall enough for my long bread knife, the slots have just the right amount of tension to hold knives upright as placed. They don't tilt or slip, and they are removed easily and safely. It is sufficiently heavy to be stable, but not so heavy it's hard to move. Saves countertop space. Holds many more knives than I anticipated, and there are two holes sufficient for scissors or sharpener. I will definitely purchase this as a gift or recommend to anyone who needs a new knife holder. I haven't tried cleaning the inside so I can't comment on that... but I never cleaned any of my Henkels knife holders either! And there's no slot for this, slot for that. You put the knife where you want it. Buy this: it's well worth it.I like it, but don't understand why you can't remove either the top or bottom, so you can clean the inside occasionally. Otherwise I like it.Good clean look for keeping knives and scissors accessible while on the kitchen counter. It has different size slots for different knives and a pair of scissors. Wood grain with a black insert that divides the knives.Compact but still holds all 17 of my knives.The search is over.
