These hooks are reasonably cheap for catching sea monsters such as Dunkleosteus and Xiphactinus. I did use them to hook but not land the extremely elusive Hippomonsterias wadeii (Wade's River Monster) which is actually not found in rivers.The hooks work well for larger sharks that require a larger gap to properly hook the fish, I recommend that the hooks be fixed and not swinging because you will get more hits in and around the jaw than further down the throat. Smaller forged tuna hooks can be stronger. Don't go any lighter than this for your Lake, River, or Sea Monster!
