This knife is my second purchase of a knife from Filmam, the Portuguese knife maker. It is a simple friction folder with a liner lock, which I find remarkable in a knife that lacks liners, and has a one-piece wooden handle. This knife was not particularly sharp out of the box. My previous purchase, the Douro, which more closely resembles an Opinel No 8, came quite a bit sharper. This one took a bit of work to put a serviceable edge on it. This is not a deal breaker, as the knife is quite inexpensive and I expect to put some work into many new blades. The stainless is tougher to sharpen than a carbon Opinel, however. I have never had a stainless Opinel, so cannot offer any comparison. The edge on the sheep's foot blade is not quite straight, but has a very slight belly to it. At first glance, it looks straight. The knife is light, and the flat-sided handle rides easily in the pocket. It does all the usual EDC tasks without difficulty. This simple country knife is unlike any other pocket knife you are likely to see. That is a great part of its appeal.Update: After several months of use, this knife has proven to be one of my handiest carry knives, in part because of its light weight, but mostly because of the blade profile. The wide tip is perfect for spreading cream cheese, peanut butter, or soft cheese after first using it to slice the bagel, of course.
