Great knife bag! I use this bag to hold my knives for catering jobs and it is just perfect! It is much better than the canvas knife rolls I've used before. There are 7 compartments in the large side which are wide enough to hold all of my chef knives (although the two along the folds are not made for wide knives, they are perfect for paring knives or a sharpener. There are 3 more compartments in the shorter side with pockets facing the other way from the large side. Those compartments are covered by a mesh compartment that attaches with Velcro. I keep additional knife guards, wet wipes, and brushes in there. The large compartment is covered by a fabric flap which also secures with Velcro. The flap has several additional compartments where I keep pens, markers, business cards, and other items I might need during jobs. The whole bag packs up nicely and is secured with clips, which I have never had any issue with. This is seriously a perfect all in one. I only wish it had a shoulder strap, but the handle is very sturdy.I use this to take my knives to friends' homes when I help with potlucks. If there is one tool I have to use of my own, it's my knives, since most of my friends tend not to take the best care of their own. This has been a good purchase for me. It has 10 pockets and a mesh bag, but I've only ever kept 5 or 6 in this bag at a time. Some of the pockets are spaced a little too close together, where the knives might brush up against each other if it were full (unless you've also put protectors over the blades, which I don't bother with), but I think it's great for 5 larger knives, a utility or paring knife, and your honing steel. The bag itself is rigid and sturdy. It's a great, inexpensive tote if you ever need to bring your knives along with you somewhere. In my Culinary Practicums, most people have the knife rolls, and I like to be just a little different. So, I bought this instead. I am not the only one who loves it. every time I start a new class, please ask where I got this. It's clean, professional looking. I amm the only one in the praticum who has a Case like this, and I love it.It's long enough to fit my "16 Honing Steel, and Carver, and still has spots for my measuring spoons and paring knives. It is a fantastic case for those just starting out, or for specialty cutlery like Japanese knives for international fare.Alas, I have run out of room, as I have continued to build my culinary collection, and I will be replacing it with a tool box (Baking has a lot of tools). But, I will still be using it for a set of japanese knives I just ordered, and as a Quick grab knife kit.I am constantly lugging my knives and kitchen tools from my home kitchen to the restaurant where I work. This bag holds 13 of my tools perfectly. It is constructed of heavy woven nylon, and stands up to my sharpest knives, even without knife protectors. It says it has 10 compartments, but there are actually 13 if you include the two mesh pockets and the zipper pocket on the outside. I think this is one of the better deals on Amazon for a good knife bag, and is better quality than some other more expensive bags I have used in the past. The handle on the outside can also be hung on a hook on the wall or the edge of a utensil rack so all of your tools are within reach without taking up counter space in smaller kitchens. Quite a nifty little feature. Highly recommended. My father regularly caters at several different organizations, and i bought him this case to replace his VERY used old canvas case that was nearing the end of its serviceability. He absolutely loves it, its very sturdy and very spacious. he carries sharpeners too, and they fit perfectly. he also really like the small slot sewed onto the exterior that was designed to hold a business card or owner information tag. He uses a business card, fits perfect. Honestly the price was the deciding factor when I bought this, i purchased with group of other items to wrap up as a gift for him. so i was unsure from the other reviews if it was sturdy enough. we are both very pleased, I paid less than 20 dollars and feel very content about the buy!if someone doe not post pics of the inside and you are curious, send me a response to this and ill post a few pics. This is my briefcase. I'm a pastry chef so I absolutely need to bring my own tools to work. This bag is very compact and can fit easily just about anywhere but somehow has enough space when opened to hold 3 spatulas (2 rubber, 1 icing), 6 knives, measuring cups, measuring spoons, sharpening steel, shears, sharpener, thermometer, peeler, all my notes and recipes, and my skull cap with room to spare. No problems folding or closing it ever. It's professional looking and it is well made and durable. Forget the knife rolls and get this. You will not regret spending the small amount for this kind of value that can last for years to come. (I bought this from eChefstore and it was shipped and delivered in less than 24 hours with standard shipping! Just sayin'. That's gotta be a record of some sort, right?)Great value. Got a 14" winco sharpening rod too. It sticks out but doesn't fall out. They sell a 12" rod too so get that if you need one.Very happy with purchase. Many pockets and my 12" salmon slicer fits nicely.Going to modify a bit to accommodate for teppan style knife holster, but for the price, I don't mind cutting and stiching back together if necessary.update. i got the 14" winco sharpening rod to fit! the straps are maxed out but it fit!Value is when a low price meets a quality product or service. I have now purchased this knife bag twice. Once a year ago and again more recently. I am a chef so this bag gets high wear. This particular bag wears well. I still use my old bag regularly and purchased a second for a different job not as a replacement. I have owned bags from 60 bucks to 120 and they are no better than this bag. I would highly recommend this product to anyone and have too. Over the year carrying this I must have talked a dozen other into getting one, all happy with their purchase as I am. All have also used the word value.Needed a place to store knives and utensils for occasional travel. Works fine. Probably would not stand up to continued "chef" work but for the money, as advertised. It is a bit bigger than I expected but that's what measurements are for. I wold be nice if those measurements included open and closed. Its a good quality for its price. I still use it with a relatively large kit including two chefs, a G5, Grohmann heavy cleaver, bunch of random tools. It all fits and the backing on the fabric doesn't lend itself to being sliced, unless you're totally foolish. An almost perfect knife roll for chefs, culinary students and experienced home cooks. It was very affordable, had More then enough pockets for most kitchen tools and utensils. Easy to carry/fold. Only thing I would change or add would be a place to clip a shoulder strap. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase.Better then I expected to be honest. For the price I wasn't sure and the picture is very lack luster. But when it arrived I was impressed of the quality and how light it was. so far very happy with it and use it practically daily.it's a little flimsy, quality is not the highest, does the trick for a low end knife bag
