4 stars for minor flaws to the knife as I will mention. Overall a great knife that is durable and will last a long time. I won’t go into the sheath since I don’t care much for it. I’ll make my own Kydex sheath for it. But it’s not bad.First off this knife is probably not true Damascus steel. Most knifes on the market are pattern welded. The difference is that Damascus is made by melting two steels with different carbon content whereas a pattern weld is acheived by forging the two steels and mashing them into a pattern. Both are then dipped in an acid to bring out the pattern. Two ways of achieving similar results. But it’s important to note because true Damascus is often times a lot more expensive. Now to the knife. Overall really great but the minor things I noticed with the knife1) It came very dull. I couldn’t cut tape off a package. It will require some sharpening out of the package but the edge was made right so it shouldn’t take much work to get it sharpened. It’s still disappointing to get a dull knife out of the package.2) there are very minor acid etching flaws. Luckily on my knife it only showed on the back edge but it’s worth mentioning.3) On the teeth of the saw on the back edge there was a piece that looked like it was chipped off. If it was made in the US it probably would have been scrapped but it’s not that noticeable and I would never use a saw on any knife. There mostly cosmetic anyway. I would have preferred the knife without anyway.4) This knife was made in Pakistan. I wish this was mentioned in the description. It could have changed my decision in purchasing the knife. I prefer to buy things made in the US to support small business and craftsman in the US. It does explain the low cost though.Overall a great knife. Take what I said with a grain of salt. Every blade will likely vary. I’m pretty sure quality control isn’t a thing where this knife is made reading some of the comments. The knife is beautiful. That was why I bought it. It's so beautiful, I probably will never use it unless I break ALL my other knives. I got the ram horn handle and it smells like ram horn. The leather sheaf smells like brand new rough leather. It came well oiled, the blade and the handle. You can see the blade is all one piece of metal all the way down to the bottom of the handle. Came plenty sharpened. Blade is about four inches, as is handle. Was thinking it was going to be bigger, but still beautiful. Would have liked to get some sort of note or information talking about how it was made and the design, especially the design of the top edge saw. Is it just decorative or does THAT design serve a purpose?Show he has a huge damask collectionIt’s an amazing “bang for your buck” knife. With that said, I unfortunately got mine today with some liquid substance inside the wrapping that seemed to have eroded the handle significantly. So let me get to the point. This is a $45 dollar knife, not a high end custom piece. That being said I wanted something cool that could handle some basic camp and bushcraft chores i.e food prep, feather sticking, basic wood carving, and if im lucky even some game possessing. The knife is definitely hand made and it shows, there are A LOT of imperfections which I expected and understand with a hand made piece at this price point. These imperfections DO NOT effect it's use in any way, just minor things like handle gind lines and some finishing details. The knife feels good in the hand and very robust. The handle scales are real bone and horn and are securely pinned in place with brass. The edge geometry was ok and the blade was semi sharp, sharp enough to cut stuff but not hair shaving sharp which was and easy fix. The sheath was to my surprise very well made, the leather was supple the stitching was perfect and the blade fit securely and tight with no wobble. The retaining stap is a little snug at first but I have no worries of the knife falling out. Overall im very pleased with this purchase. Again at this price point it is a beautifully crafted and unique cuting tool that should be fun to use and pass around the campfire. The knife is pretty to look at. Well made. Sharp enough to cut paper, but not as sharp as expected. The sheath is horrible. Snaps don't hold well. In fact they open WAY too easily. Very rigid leather. Going to need to purchase another sheath unless the manufacturer sees this and decides to offer another, better made sheath with better snaps.Blade wasn't sharp at all the sheath was poorly made, and handle wasn't sturdyI love the knife it fits in my hand great it’s beautiful I like the sheath and all that nothing wrong with the knife at all but.... the knife smells horrible the blade smells like metal but the handle smalls horrible.
