The ones with leather grips suck. The black rubbery grip is better but still leaves a little to be desired.Ultimately, I swapped this one out for one with a partially serrated blade due strictly to preference. But this is still an excellent knife.I highly recommend putting a better edge on it. I keep all of my blades surgically sharp and use a different profile. My friend is a butcher and he taught me his preferred angle for a work knife. Remember, this is a fighting knife. Meat is meat so, I keep a butcher's edge on my KA-BAR. Bushcraft will require a different edge.Recommendation:Use the shorter KA-BAR for gutting game and fish. Use the big KA-BAR for bushcraft and gutting commiesJust arrived! It's a solid survival knife and can't wait to field test it next camping trip. The blade lock is a little stiff at first, but it loosened up a bit after a while. Exactly what I was expecting, not disappointed.I noticed that my blade was only stamped on one side (Ka-Bar - Olean Ny) and was missing the product ID on the other. I reached out to Ka-Bar and this was their answer:"One side of the blade will have KA-BAR Olean, NY stamped. There is nothing on the other side. It used to have 1211 and USA stamped; however, KA-BAR is no longer stamping USA on the blade. This is a running change on all products. This item is manufactured in the USA with German steel."Hope this helps someone questioning authenticity.Arrived razor sharp. The sheath offers a variety of options for carry. Good value for the price. And fortunately that still means something. The quality, the look, the feel are outstanding, and I expect to be using this knife for a long time!Worth every cent. I absolutely love this thing. The one I received was unfortunately missing the "USA" blade stamp which made me suspicious at first, but I reached out to KA-BAR directly and they were able to authenticate it for me.I broke the tip off of my favorite knife so I needed a replacement and this thing is awesome!!! Great weight, great strength, and it came in sharp. It’s so much easier to carry and sharpen even though it lacks the girth of my nighthawk, it is an excellent choice.seems to be a great knife, came razor sharp. I haven't single handedly rescued Vietnam POW's, killed a Russian Spetsnaz team or stormed any French beaches with it.......yet, so i cant speak to its durability. it does seem to be a well made knife and feels good in the hand. not sure how well the Kydex sheath would grip it with a bunch of running and jumping around but for having on your belt while hunting or camping or strapping to your backpack while doing one of those I'm sure it would be fine. This knife is amazing!!!•I started with cardboard sliced right through•Sliced vertical through a stick in 2 strokes•Whiddled a stick down•Chopped through thin branch 2 hitsThis knife handled it all and stayed sharp I'm now sold on this knife for life literally the best knife in my collection.!This is an outstanding knife. This model is the full-size 17.78cm/7in blade with Kraton handle instead of the traditional stacked leather. Overall size with handle is almost 30cm/11.75in. The knife is USA made. This model comes with a kydex sheath. Black leather sheaths also available at Amazon. Great balance and the handle is the perfect size for me.Razor sharp out of the box and has since sharpened quickly. The blade is thinner than the BK 7 also by KaBar - .165 v .188 mm. This knife is lighter as a result but still tough enough for most use. Unless you think you need to do heavy batoning with your knife you'll likely find the KB1213 a good fit. The 1213 has a better sheath than the BK 7 but they're both great knives. The 1213 is a fairly big knife and not suitable for children. This model with the kydex sheath has proved tough in the field and should not break down over time but note that the knife and sheath together have a very tactical look that may not be for everybody. If you're using this knife in the winter you'll want a leather or other sheath as the kydex becomes brittle at very low temperatures.I was looking for an all-round survival type knife and I went back to this as something I'd used in the military. This knife has proved perfect for me. I love the balance and design of the knife. I have other similar knives including a Gerber LMF II which is an egress/ urban survival knife which I carry in my vehicle, but the 1213 is my overall go-to choice.Excellent heavy duty knife with the heft of a real useful bladel which complements my collection of Japanese katanas. The Kabar has a thick blade which may account for some people saying the blade feel dull (No way with a 20 degree edge). This is one sharp blade out of the box and can slice just as smooth as any of my thick bladed katanas. I do not abuse any of my bladed "tools" and my son will inherit a fine knife. The Kydex sheath is well made and has many tied down points for effective deployment.Top Messer leider mit ne Macke am Griff.just bought my first 1211 love it also a necker bk7 and bk9 all 1095cv love them all dam fine iron .im up to 6 ka bars nowAdquirí este cuchillo de combate y quede fascinado, buen producto echo de excelentes materiales, buena grip, buen diseño, la hoja es de buen tamaño y su funda es la adecuada, excelente compra para quienes nos gusta los filos.
