These do seem to cut well. However, it only cuts on the forward stroke which causes the blades to catch and bend sometimes. They are not too thin. They are just a bit long. I imagine if they cut on the back stroke then the blades might pull out of the handles because they do tend to tear through the wood pretty fast.
