It's a very handy size for heavier cutting jobs without being unwieldily like many big knives can be.Holds a sharp edge and works great for general deer skinning. Arrives very sharp out of the package.Don't waste time with deer hunting knives anymore. Got a 10 dollar plastic handled mora puko knife to gut the deer and this knife does everything else, skinning to full butchering. Use the puko to split joints to make sure I don't damage the edge on this one. Recommend this highly, very sharp, resharpens easily and great grip and washes up good with no crack or joints for blood etc to pileup/congeal in.This knife (a) is inexpensive, (b) is just the right shape and size to whack up things like rotisserie chickens, (c) has a strong and rigid blade, and (d) has a good nonslip handle. I also like the very functional bolster/finger guard that keeps one's hand from slipping down onto the blade in case one's hand slips down the nonslip handle. The knife was razor sharp out of the box.I bought a similar Sabatier at the same time as this knife. I kept this knife and returned the Sabatier.My most favorite knife in kitchen or fishing trip. The handle is made with good quality Polypropylene, and blade is really sharp. The shape of the knife makes it easier to fillet fishes. I made a sheath myself but would be better if it includes a sheath :-)I'm a butcher, was razor sharp out the box, and it's very sturdy, just great.The blade is thin and the handle is sturdy. Feels good in my handI bought this to replace a Dexter Butcher Knife that I have used for almost 30 years. I could have had the old one re-edged and sharpened but I figured I deserved a new one.
