1/30/20 Update: Dropped my rating down to three stars. Didn't use it all that much over the last half year. The locking and spring assembly broke completely, so it's basically useless now. For $15, it will work for very basic needs, for a short time period. So if you're getting it because of how it looks, cool. Just know that it's simply not a dependable knife if you plan on using it more than half a year.9/17/19 Update: I still use this knife, often, but had to drop the rating from five stars to four because a piece of the handle broke off. I had to tap on something (not even that hard) with one end of the knife while it was closed, and a piece of the handle just broke off. It's still functional, but it shows me that the handle itself (not the blade) isn't terribly durable. This knife reminds me of the ones you see at gas stations and truck stops along the interstate, here in the Deep South where we live. I actually dig it. I own other knifes made by this company, I've been very happy with them so far. Like the other knife I got from these guys, this one has a one-hand open (though I typically use my pointer finger rather than my thumb). Good reliable lock on it, and easy to close one-handed as well. What separates this particular knife from the other one I got from them is that this one is noticeably lighter in weight. The blade is just as sharp, which is a big plus. And it seems to be a good, sturdy knife. But I do like that it isn't as noticeable in my pocket when I'm carrying other things around. Plus the design is cool, I get asked about it from time to time. I'd definitely recommend it.While lightweight in your pocket, this knife with all of its fancy holes and painting seems flimsy to me to be of any practical use. The blade locks open which is the single redeeming factor I have found. I am sure that young people who are going for a certain style will love it. Those of us who examined this product found it garish and just a little silly, since we like working blades, not just cute ones.Other than the handle feeling sort of cheap since it's plastic, I like pretty much everything about this knife. It arrived with a nice sharp blade, the blade assist works well, and it locks in place well. I wasn't expecting very good quality but it's actually really not bad at all. The design is very detailed and the best feature is how the blade matches the handle, something I haven't seen previously. There is a silver clip on one side that doesn't match the rest of the knife at all but it's fine because any design would probably rub off anyway with use. I'm happy with this knife, it's pretty nice for a novelty and it is actually useful for cutting. No special features on this one except for the spring assist and locking blade, it's just a basic knife that's very sharp since it's not serrated at all, it can be sharped easily with any knife sharpener.Pictures make this knife look very nice online, the product I received had many chipped areas of paint on the blade itself. Spring assisted opening works great and it feels very secure. Knife was not very sharp straight out of the box however that was an easy fix and sharpens nicely. It's sharp, and it does open quickly, however, it seems very cheaply made. It's made of some sort of plastic not metal, and the "Blue Reptile" design is.....ugly there's no other word for it. I'd hit your back button and keep looking on Amazon for something else.My curiosity told me to pick this knife. The blade being painted with the same design as the hansle intrigued me. I knew this was going to be a cheap knife at $15 since its easy to buy a nice one for $300. As a utility knife it's actually okay. It can easily be opened with one hand, it's spring loaded, and locks in place. The locking mechanism doesn't instill confidence but as long as I'm careful (and I always am) it should be okay. The blade is alright for the price. I'm sure the paint will come off in due time.Good knife for the collector that wants aomething different. This is an attractive knife. I didn't think it was particularly sharp, but I can fix that. The design has a definite "reptile" look, albeit blue. The pattern on the handle matches the pattern on the blade... nifty! The lock on the blade, when opened, is less firm than I would hope for... I always have concerns that it might pop close... on my fingers. It is easy to close. Not a switchblade.I expect the pattern on the blade will wear out with normal use faster than the pattern on the handle. Time will tell! For the price, its not the worst knife. Long-term edge retention won't be great- like other SE knives this is a fairly cheap stainless steel that will dull after a week or two of light use, however its soft enough metal that honing the edge is fairly simple, so swings and roundabouts on that. The pattern finish on this, while fairly attractive in my eyes, is also essentially glued on. This gives the knife an interesting kind of textured finish, but also doesn't make me confident in the appearance holding up perfectly over time, especially if you were to use it hard. However, as a box opener that you leave in a safe place at home, this would do fairly well. Just make sure you know how to sharpen it every couple weeks.
