Description

The Morakniv Craftline Robust Trade Knife features a 3.6-inch fixed blade made of high carbon steel for high hardness, easy sharpening, and exceptional toughness. High carbon steels are preferred in applications that demand durability and frequent regrinding. The material is harder than stainless steel, allowing it to hold a sharper and more durable acute edge. An impact-resistant, ergonomic TPE rubber handle with coil-formed rounding provides extra grip and control, while a finger guard provides additional safety. Included with the knife is a hard plastic Combi-Sheath, which provides a quick-connect feature for attaching a second knife and sheath. It also has a practical belt clip for easy attachment to your belt. Morakniv has been manufacturing the highest-quality off-grid knives in Mora, Sweden since 1891.

First off, if you are not sure what all is involved with a carbon steel knife, then you probably want to get the stainless steel version of this knife. If not maintained, CARBON STEEL WILL RUST. If you like the added benefits of a carbon steel blades, but still not sure, do some research on carbon steel blades before you buy it and leave a poor review whenever it rusts.I was in the market for a fixed blade EDC that was a little longer than my usual EDC fixed blade, but shorter than my camping knives. Morakniv's line of knives are everything against my usual style of knives. I saw the Eldris in a video review and became curious and started down the rabbit hole of research into the company and it's knives. I will break down each of the negative items below and why it still didn't deter me from this knife. I was torn between the Companion HD, the Kansbol, the Garberg and this Craftline Robust. I liked the Kansbols dual blade grind but didn't like that it was only available in stainless. I preferred the handle of the craftline as it wasn't as thick as the HD. But I preferred the HD bc the blade was a little bit longer. I liked the Gargberg's full tang, but didn't like the handle shape or the price tag.-Not a full tang. I have always been a full tang type of guy. I have always been skeptical of even full narrowing and full stick tang knives. This is actually my first partial tang knife I have owned. This model has a 2/3 -3/4 tang. It's wider than a stick tang. This knife is solid though. They have done a great job of bonding the tang to the handle. I don't foresee any troubles down the road and have heard great opinions on longevity with moraknivs.-Plastic handle. I always liked metal handles or metal with scales. This knife, however, has a rubberized plastic handle. It feels really good though. The grey plastic inlay is not rubberized though, but I don't see that being an issue. In the pictures the handle looks cheap and plastic. It is surprisingly not so when you see it first hand and feel it. The molding lines are visible in spots but it doesn't detract from the overall appearance or feel. The shape of the handle fits my hand very well. I was afraid to get the Companion HD bc it had a thicker handle and other reviewers with smallish hands complained it was too thick. I really like the finger guard near the blade and the pull grip at the bottom.-Sheath. The sheath is acceptable but has a little more to be desired. I will probably modify the existing sheath or make a new one. If I was going to belt carry it vertically, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I think I'd prefer to horizontal carry or neck carry it though. This knife is about the longest fixed blade I would horizontal belt carry for my waist size. All in all, this is an astonishing value for what you get. They didn't cheap out on the stuff that matters. This is an AMAZING <$20 knife. It's NOT an amazing >$50 knife. Reading some of the other reviews made me cringe about the spine and the rust. There is a picture of the unfinished spine in the listing. I'd probably spend up to maybe 50 on it if it had a better sheath and a machined spine. Morakniv has those options in their better lines for about that price.I would rather spend what I did on this knife and machine the spine myself and do a custom sheath. That is all this knife lacks. The blade on this Robust is amazingly well made. This is my first Morakniv brand knife and the first knives I have purchased sight unseen. Even with what is lacking, and I knew what it was going to lack before purchasing it, I would not have chosen a different knife. If the Kansbol was offered in carbon steel with the handle of the Craftline, I would have went with that. I will be buying all 4 of my children the Morakniv Scout as they get of age based on the overall quality of this Craftline Robust.
